The Domaine de Cinquau is a small family-run vineyard at Artigulouve, a few miles west of the town of Jurancon. It lies on the hillside above the river (the Gave de Pau) See Map. The vineyard also benefits from the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean to the west. This situation, on steep hillsides means that all the grapes must be picked manually, which in turn enables the pickers to select only the ripest and undamaged bunches. The steep hillsides also ensure good drainage for the vines, good exposure to the sun and plenty of breeze to ward off mildew and disease. This is all important for the sweeter wines, which are often not picked until late November/December.~~~8264~8290~~
